Andrew Joseph Boysen, DRAKE 2003, entered the Chapter Eternal on November 11, 2020. Sigma Chi brethren, and his family and friends remember Andrew as "fun, energetic and easy going," and someone who quickly made lasting friendships with people from all walks of life.
Andrew joined the Theta Gamma chapter at Drake as a freshman, and during his undergraduate years was elected to both recruitment chair and Consul (chapter president). Andrew graduated from Mississippi College School of Law in 2007 and was admitted to that state's Bar the same year. In 2008, Andrew joined the US Army JAG corp. and completed the Basic Officer Leadership Course as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. He then served at Ft. Hood as an Assistant US Attorney before deploying to Iraq in early 2010 and earning the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Returning home, Andrew left active service, eventually joined the Army Reserves, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Major in 2019.
His many leadership roles and achievements at Drake, the Mississippi College School of Law and with the US Army reflected Andrew's constant calling to be a part of something greater than himself. Andrew loved history and found inspiration in great figures of the past, but he found no less motivation in local leaders of the present whom he saw selflessly working to better their communities and country.
With this scholarship, Andrew's family, friends, and Sigma Chi brothers commemorate the richness of his friendship - much cherished and never forgotten. We also celebrate his commitment to public service as an inspiration to us all. We are therefore honored to present the "Andrew Boysen Memorial Scholarship" as an opportunity to carry forward Andrew's memory in the service of future generations of leaders.
Andrew Joseph Boysen - All honor to his name!
